Doctors and patients from hospitals in São José do Rio Preto, Barretos and Jaci and families living in the communities of Pindamonhangaba and Jacareí will receive more than 144 thousand cans of Levity mineral water throughout the month of September.

Novelis, the largest producer of aluminum foil for beverage cans and the largest recycler of used beverage cans in the world, is collaborating in this solidarity initiative. Other companies collaborating with the multinational include Poty Beverages, Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP), Metal Can and OTD Brasil Logística, with the aim of promoting access to safe, quality water in 100% recyclable aluminum containers.

According to the Poty beverage company, the 473 ml can of Levity mineral water will have a limited edition with an exclusive label to support the action and will not be sold. Part of the donation will go to the Hospital de Base de Rio Preto, Hospital do Câncer de Barretos, Hospital São Francisco, in Jaci, and Serviço Social São Judas Tadeu, in Rio Preto. In Jacareí, the beneficiary entity is Associação Fênix, which will donate the water cans to the Vilta Ita community, benefiting 170 families, about 600 people, who do not have access to drinking water. In Pindamonhangaba, the NGO IA3 will distribute the water to the community’s young people in after-school activities. After consumption, the used cans will be donated to the Moreira César Recycling Cooperative.

The strategic partnership of the companies made the social action possible. Novelis, a world leader in aluminum laminates and recycling, donated the raw material so that AMP, a world leader in the production of aluminum and glass containers, could manufacture the cans. Bebidas Poty, owner of the Levity brand, filled the water. OTD Brasil Logística is responsible for transporting the product to the partners in this action and Metal Can donated the labeling services, communicating the donation slogan on the can.

For the CEO of Bebidas Poty, José Luiz Franzotti, the initiative is a demonstration of the importance of social partnerships in the business world. %22We have joined our experience for an unprecedented action, with a quality product and sustainable materials. It is our way of contributing to a more solidary life%22, Franzotti adds.

%22This is a very important project, the result of a partnership between companies that really care about leaving a contribution for vulnerable communities in such a difficult time we are going through, which is the pandemic. I am very proud to be part of the Ardagh team and this project,%22 said Luciana Fleck, commercial director of Ardagh Metal Packaging.

Eunice Lima, Director of Communications and Government Relations for Novelis South America notes that %22partnerships like this allow us to be transformative agents for those in need of support and also to support initiatives that promote recycling, a criterion that is part of Novelis’ strategy and our commitment to sustainability. We are pleased to have the opportunity to positively impact IA3 beneficiaries and strengthen the operations of the Moreira César cooperative%22.
