The International Organisation of Aluminium Aerosol Packaging Manufacturers (AEROBAL) has announced the winners of the World Aluminium Aerosol Can Award 2021. This prestigious competition comes to recognize the best and most innovative aluminum aerosol cans in the world in the World Aluminium Aerosol Can Award 2021.
The jury proclaimed the winner of this year’s edition, in the category of aluminium aerosols already on the market, the Cocinero Fritolim Oliva and Clásico containers, manufactured by Trivium Packaging Argentina. Cocinero Fritolim Oliva is a cooking oil spray that seeks to offer quality and controlled dosage to health-conscious consumers.
Another key to the brand’s success is the use of sustainable materials. For this reason, Cocinero uses infinitely recyclable aluminium containers. In this way, the packaging represents a healthy, attractive and sustainable offer, fully in line with the company’s mission.
The winners in the prototype category were the two aluminium containers ‘Save the Earth’ and ‘The Matrix’ for self-marketing, manufactured by the US company CCL Container. The manufacturer cooperated with Sun Chemical to develop and produce these attractive aluminium containers with the novel and eye-catching Spot Varnish Ink technology.
This promising technology is notable for the fact that it does not use any conventional coating varnish, which is also a particular challenge, but is instead integrated as an additive in the printing ink, where it performs its function. Without this varnish, the deformation of the container would be very difficult.
The winner in the sustainability category was the Cien Deo aluminium container produced by the German manufacturer Tubex. According to the company itself, the winning package is the first aluminium aerosol printed with ecological and sustainable ink. The ink used is free of mineral, palm, soy and coconut oils, thus helping to protect the rainforests of our planet. It also does not use genetically modified organic materials.
The package also features a patented alloy that allows for an additional 6% weight reduction compared to the previous package. Likewise, the use and treatment of used aluminium packaging from the yellow container allows 25% of certified PCR material to be used in the packaging. All in all, the jury’s award-winning Cien Deo container could indeed be among the most sustainable aluminium containers currently on the market.
Despite the generally difficult market situation, AEROBAL Secretary General Gregor Spengler pointed out that “not even in times of crisis have our member companies in any way lowered their guard when it comes to efforts and investments in sustainable concepts. Looking at this year’s competition, it seems rather that our industry is redoubling its efforts to find climate and ecologically sustainable packaging solutions”.
AEROBAL Award 2021 has also presented impressive and innovative ideas in printing, decoration and finishing that open up new opportunities for designers and marketing experts, further boosting the role of aluminium aerosol in global packaging markets.”
