The aluminum industry in Indiana generates more than 42,000 local jobs, $3.3 billion in wages and benefits, and $15.3 billion in total economic impact each year. The Hoosier State ranks as second in the nation for aluminum jobs per capita.
Among its assets, Indiana has one of the last major aluminum smelters in the country, recyclers, and companies that produce high-quality aluminum and aluminum-lithium alloys, essential for the aerospace industry.
In the last decade, the aluminum industry has invested more than $11 billion in American manufacturing to meet the growing demand for the metal. Currently, the sector directly employs more than 164,000 workers in the U. S. and indirectly supports half a million additional jobs nationwide.
