During a routine inspection carried out by the Secretariat of Urban and Operational Control of the Municipality of Comodoro Rivadavia, 14,000 cans of beer of Bolivian origin were seized. The cans were being stored without the documentation required by local regulations.
The procedure took place in a business in the northern part of the city. There, the authorities detected a significant quantity of alcoholic beverages that did not have invoices or receipts to prove their legal origin, which prevented verification of the lot’s traceability.
Miguel Gómez, head of the area, explained that the lack of documentation made it impossible to establish how the merchandise entered the country and what its route was to the establishment. “The corresponding fee had not been paid and there was no legal backing for its acquisition, so we proceeded to seize the product,” he said.
The merchant involved was notified and has a short period to present the relevant documentation. Meanwhile, the case was referred to the Court of Misdemeanors, which will determine the next steps.
The municipality announced that controls will continue at different points in the city in order to protect food safety and prevent the circulation of products without legal backing.
