Promote recycling among the university community. This is the new objective of Ecoembes, which has installed several machines at the Complutense University of Madrid. In this way, the Complutense University becomes the first in the Community of Madrid to have these machines.

Specifically, a total of 7 have been installed on different campuses so that students can recycle their cans and plastic beverage bottles in them and obtain rewards for doing so. To make use of the RECYCLES machines, students simply need to register on the app.reciclos.com, deposit all their cans and plastic beverage bottles in a RECYCLES machine and scan the QR that the machine will display.

By doing so, they will obtain points, called RECYCLES, which can be exchanged for the different rewards available, such as, in the case of the Complutense University, giving them to the Madrid Food Bank or Aldeas Infantiles. In addition, with this return and reward system (RRS), students will be able to earn sustainable and social rewards with a weekly limit of points that citizens receive when recycling.

Finally, Nieves Rey, Director of Communication and Marketing at Ecoembes, concludes by adding that «it is very important to raise awareness and citizen commitment to the environment in all possible areas, and the university is the perfect place to promote environmentally responsible practices that, now with RECICLOS, have an impact on those who need it most».
