For many Germans, Rothaus’ ‘Tannenzäpfle’ is Germany’s strongest beer brand and is not only popular with farmers in the Black Forest, but also with the city’s hipsters. One of its hallmarks is its iconic logo, which has remained virtually unchanged for half a century and has contributed to the brand’s success.

Now they have taken a new twist by launching the party keg on the market. Its striking design, a laughing cubist-looking female figure holding two beer glasses, surrounded by geometric shapes that glow brightly against a black background. For those who haven’t noticed, it shows the characteristic Black Forest girl adorning the brewery’s products. What’s special about it: with the limited special collection, Rothaus has completely reinterpreted its traditional design.

‘Biergit Kraft’ is the name of the cheerful lady, a faithful Black Forest woman in typical costume with bold hats. Rothaus beer drinkers gave it the fictitious name in the 1990s. It is based on the saying ‘Beer gives strength’. Today, ‘Biergit’ adorns not only beer labels, but also backpacks, knives and key rings.

Daniel Weishaar, team leader responsible for domestic sales/export at Rothaus, considers the four new special edition barrels to be ‘brave’. “It’s always exciting how the consumer reacts to this. Because it revisits the ‘Biergit’ theme in a much more hidden or playful way than previous designs. Anyone who knows the brand will also recognize that these are Rothaus barrels,” he adds.

Daniel Weishaar knows that limited edition plays an important role in special editions. That is why only 1,500 pieces of each of the four motifs have been produced in the current collection. Due to the limited edition, special editions regularly become popular collector’s items. In addition, ‘Biergit’ celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
